Newbie in Central Scotland saying hello (ex-VW)

Postby a11y » Tue May 16, 2017 1:17 pm

Hi all,

An ex-VW T5 owner in Central Scotland here saying hello. Only recently placed an order for a Transit Custom so it'll be a while before I have anything much to add or ask, but the forum was a useful resource during my research :D

Firstly, this is what I came from - really sad to see it go after owning it 0 years and taking it from a standard panel van to a full camper (with a little bit of help from Jerba Conversions). But as a growing family it became too small and for the past 18 months wasn't slept in since buying a caravan. Had great times and memories including several European holidays but all good things come to an end :(

However, we've got a nice new van to look forward to. We've gone for:
- Transit Custom DCiV, 130ps, L2, manual.
- Limited spec
- Magnetic metallic (grey)
- Unglazed tailgate
- Seat pack 35 (single passenger seat, leather interior, electric driver's seat)
- towbar
- rear side window blinds
- load compartment LED lights
- 2nd row fixed side windows

It'll be a family vehicle rather than workhorse hence the choice of tailgate, single passenger seat and the window blinds. We've not ruled out another camper conversion waaaaaay down the line so this is a better starting point. Couldn't justify the cost of a new VW T6, a Vivaro just wasn't as appealing as the Transit and Mercs didn't float our boat (or finances).

Considered the 170ps model but decided spending the extra on leather instead has more benefit to us - didn't fancy looking after the light-coloured panels in the seats having 2 young kids. Yes I know the leather is light coloured but at least it's wipe clean! Got my car if I want something quicker anyway.

So yeah, it's going to be a long wait but I'm sure it'll be worth it 8)

Cheers,
Ally
