Hello there!
Greetings from flat, flat Norfolk.
I'm a german electronics design engineer (what a cliché ) and technology aficionado, working in the EV R&D sector. I studied Mechatronics, originally, so I know my way around a wrench and a keyboard as well. Strangely not much of a car-guy though. Usually prefer the nitty-gritty of the operation of a component over the car magazine "makes, models, feeling, performance" advertising speak.
I have now lived on this rainy Island a little longer than 4 years. Still not a fan of Salt and Vinegar though.
I've just become the proud owner of a 2008 MK7 Transit 350 2.4l LWB with high roof and allegedly 140 ponies living under the bonnet, with the intention to transform the beauty into a little home on wheels (will be a nice plan-B if Brexit blows up really badly ).
Admittedly, my Transit is a bit of a fixer-upper with 264k miles on the clock. Starts and runs ok so far, seems to have been cared for well enough, 2 previous owners, no rust where it matters, but I'll try and catch any little problems before they turn into big ones.
Currently in the process of removing, checking, cleaning and replacing bits to prepare for the conversion and have already found mounds of valuable info on this forum (I had never even heard of Torx-Plus until I tried to remove the seats ).
I'd like my Transit to last me as long as possible so I'll try my best to do a proper job of anything I do. I'm well aware of the mileage and budgeting for major repairs and replacements in the next couple of years.
Hope I'll be able to contribute some useful info as well, some time in the future.
