FORUM CHARITY PROJECT (mainly) PICS AND VIDEOS PROGRESS THRE

Postby AndyG » Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:27 pm

This progress report has become extremely difficult to follow and has been well overdue it's own makeover :!:
I've done my best to start and tidy it up by compiling a mainly picture thread :D

My apologies for any pictures that may appear out of sync :|

It's locked, so I can simply add to this thread, but if you want to talk about it, you can start a new thread if you wish :)

Postby Luke » Fri Aug 27, 2010 3:46 pm

This is it  yes we've got our work cut out  it's my old mk4 donated to the project by myself
although it looks a bit of a state (unfortunatly it's now weller-less) it's not had much bodywork no filler in it and quite solid underneith, doors are good even the back ones - too good to scrap anyway

we have power ........... V8 power!!

Postby Luke » Tue Dec 28, 2010 11:34 pm

here it is :D the Rover V8 & auto box kindly donated to us 8) and thanks to andyj for collecting dropping it off it :D

Image

it was a running engine before it went into storage, but as its been in storage its took a knock and the rocker cover and distributer are damaged, it's also missing a water pump, altenator and one of the plungers of the SU carb is gone :(

So if you have any Rover V8 bits in your shed please dig them out for us :D

Image

i'll see if i can knock up a frame and get it running before we fit it :D

AT LAST WE NOW HAVE A UNIT !!!!

Postby Luke » Mon Feb 14, 2011 6:25 pm

At last we have a unit we can use for the project 8) 8)

it's in Sheffield and it belongs to Tony (midniteclassix on here) there is loads of space (and i mean loads  ) for us to park up for the weekend as it's on an industrial estate :D

The only down side is there is no electricity in the unit - but we should be able to sort out a hire generator without much trouble :D

Tony runs JD's Diner on the industrial estate and he'll open up for us over the weekend 8)
The diner is a new buisness venture for Tony so it will be good if we all support him :D

The address is

JD's Diner
Yarra park industrial estate
Ecclesfield
S35 9YR

so if you are in the area and fancy a bite to eat call in and say hi to Tony :D

a bit Heath Robinson but....................

Postby Luke » Sat Jun 18, 2011 7:54 pm

these are the jigs for lining up the back axle :D basically 4 wheel middles burnt out by myself :D bolted together back to back and spaced in line exactly 750mm apart then ive welded 2 box sections on to hold them secure :D

for those who arnt sure............. how it will work is the front axle (of the rear 2) will stay in the same position it's in now these will bolt up to it, 1 either side, and the rear most trailing axle (which will have the springs fitted) will bolt to the other ends, we'll then weld on the mounts for the rearmost axle so it will be in the correct position :D we'll then unbolt these throw them in the bin - job done 8)

The Ordinary Van visits an Extraordinary Event

Big respect to everyone taking part - it certainly is a project and a half! Good work was being done but there is still a way to go. In optimistic mood, Luke thought the 'new' van would be driving round the yard by the end of the day!

I arrived at about 0915 and work was already in full swing. Here are some pictures from this morning ...

whats happening?

Postby AlanN » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:20 am

Had such a good weekend and made some great friends. I took over a hundred bits of video, which I will try and stitch together the best I can later this week, its not a full account of what went on, as they had a 2 day head start on me. Heres the moment it first moved.
