Weekend Makeover Van Interior

Postby mealic » Wed Mar 09, 2011 1:17 am

First of all, many thanks to Luke for all the time and efforts that he is putting in to make this project a real success.Well done Luke.

The Interior crew need to work closely in conjunction with the ICE guys,so we need to combine thoughts and ideas.Do we go for a cab revamp(dash, chairs, instruments, headlining, flooring, door cards etc).

Are we looking at just a day van, weekender or a project for longer periods?.Do we need cooking and wet facilities?Would it be an entertainment unit.Power,12v or mains, lighting. We obviously need seating and a fridge.Insulation, heating and ventilation need to be considered too.Upholstered, panelled or could we find some carbon fibre type sheeting or polished steel..Lots to think about!!

So please post any ideas whether you are involved on the weekend or not.

Cheers for now

a couple of my ideas

this is an idea for the layout

Image

bed frame at the back (pink sheets not mandatory)
storage underneith accesed from back doors and inside
    table in the middle
swivel captains seats (if we can get some)
and a porthole - nothing to do with the interior

and mabe a couple of cupboards too if we could manage it

and how about this for an idea :?:

   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuhzmaAY ... re=related

mabe not bother with the crystals but we could cover the panels like that (mabe just the top half??) and it doesnt look too tricky or expensive :?

to hide the screw heads we could use these  Image

Ok, i like you simple layout ideas, and i also like this upholstery idea, its very simple to achieve and we could make up the pieces before hand as we should know the dimensions.

I think we should go for at least one cupboard and a drop down shelf/or drawer under a cupboard that a small stove can go on (I have one to donate) This means without having cooking facilities fixed in we can offer it as an option. It is important to have a cuppa in the morning.

I think we should go for black, white and re as a colour scheme as it appeals to both genders and keeps it simple. Maybe have white leather panels at the front by the seats and black round he bed? Red table and cupboards for a splash of colour and black carpet?

Lighting and sound are the things I have no idea about as you need to know a bit about how to power it but maybe someone else has ideas about simple power options and they can give us an idea on the amount of space needed to house any batteries etc.

Just a few ideas but it seems important to work out all this soon so we can find the things and make them up prior to the build days.

for style you want a bench seat come bed that opens out with 1 of them actuators looks top nouch and imperesive easy to do honestly

and 1 of the modern things is thease raising tvs people love that i think the coustomizing thats going on .on the outside the inside should match that (wow effect )and should raise a lot of money for your charity ..will

What is happening with regards to materials? We're going to need 6mm plywood for the sides for definite. 18mm ply for the floor for definite then either 18mm ply for cupboards, furniture, etc or MDF.

Where is it going to come from, where is the money going to come from?

We'll be best off using some cheap corded carpet for the sides, available from all carpet shops. Has this been looked into?

I'd seriously consider tiling the floor with sticky tiles or vinyl floor covering. Makes it easier to keep clean. Then just chuck a rug in.

We'll need foam if we are doing seats, mattress, etc... There is a Dunelm Mills 5 miles away from the unit.

I like the idea of a padded roof. Dunelm sell a leatherette/vinyl fabric. £5 a meter.

We seem to be lacking info on materials!

There is a place that does furniture foam up this way, so if you need any prices let me know, if you want to order from them they usually take 7 to 10 days to turn the order round.
I got some 5 inch foam from them double mattress size.
