DAB

This has probably been asked before but does anyone know if you can change the radio for one with DAB in the mk8? I know a new aerial will be required but just wondered if its possible to do this without some aftermarket DAB kit.

Just my ten pen'th worth - don't do it.
DAB is unreliable - always dropping signal or no signal at all. The hype is wrong its a poor system.......

I used to think the same, I fitted a DAB radio in my old Focus a few years back, it was hopeless, and I removed it and sold it on. But, the factory fitted DAB in my Mk3 Focus works well, so much so, I was thinking about getting a DAB radio to go in the Mk7 :D

I’ve had 3 cars with dab the first Kia was a factory add on it took the dealer 12 months to get it to work right 2 wireing kits and Areias to get it to work just in time for me to trade it in for a Toyota all 3 cut out in the same place around town I am probably getting about 99% useable signal can’t do without my planet rock but as Kevcox says it’s not as good as it should be I am happy with the cars I’ve had it in but at home I’ve had 4 different radios and they are all crap and all wear a good make and not cheap so to get reliable signal I’ve had to go for internet radio

Do you just mean the standard system you get from ford is rubbish? I put an aftermarket radio in my mk7 with the screen mounted aerial and it was spot on in 99% of the areas I worked in.

No, he means that DAB is sh*t in his area. And to be fair it is very dependent on where you want to listen, but if you lose DAB signal the (Ford) radio switches to FM. It’s getting better by the day.

The Ford one in my van works quite well
Once your outside of Lincolnshire

But the little portable one i have in the arsewaher :x
Slightest bit of electrical interference and it goes off
Clippers, pump , table motors anything like that and it can't cope
It's going to be useless when the aliens land

Footman,
fetch me my chaps and the sudocream :)

Hows that work then ? Say I'm listening to dogs arsewaher radio (only available on dab)
And it looses it for a bit
Will it switch to pool cleaner fm to fill the gap ?

It's a totally different genre of music and i would find it quite upsetting

I bought a mk2 Focus dab aerial, fitted that to my mk6 and an aftermarket Sony dab radio. Took it all out when I sold the mk6 and put it in the mk7. It works spot on with no problems.
