Auxinaly heater (hot air) best location

Postby rasu » Sun Nov 01, 2015 5:33 pm

Hi,
I stripped my new Transit today and wonder where to fit Eberspaecher hot air heater.
Is here somebody with already completed installation to share experience ?
Thanks in advance.

You should have gotten the factory one.

It was impossible ....

1. Van was purchased from the stock as was (because of Euro 5 is my preference)
2. Factory heater's installation is not suitable for my camper conversion

By the way, new Transits have installed water heating system from the factory, not hot air (in my country)

Not sure this will help as mine is a Mk 7 Jumbo.
You need to look underneath first off to check out any restrictions as in cross members, wiring etc etc.
I fitted mine behind my Drivers seat at the start of the load area, rippled floor is a bit of a pain but I bought an Eberspacher fixing plate so you just drill one big hole around 125mm with a hole saw along with 4 other small holes around 6mm to anchor the plate to the van.
My pump is fitted in a void underneath,I'm guessing where the fuel filling pipe would be should my van been LHD.
Fuel line comes from my tank, drop the tank and fit a Genuine Eberspacher "Fuel Pick up kit" try heaterpartsdirect on EBay
You may have to check with Ford first though that your sender unit on the tank is the same as a Mk7 :?,
Should you fit that kit,BEWARE NOT TO CUT TO MUCH OFF THE PLASTIC NIPPLE that the straw/pipe fits into as you will not get an airtight joint thus giving you problems getting fuel from the tank to the Eber.
Hope this helps a tadge...

I found the best place for the heater about 1 meter behind the driver ... Fuel line is a bit longer than expected because I was lazy to take down the tank one more time to use a shorter way .... but everything works very nice
Now work on hot air distribution inside.
