Shredding tyres

Postby joiner12007 » Fri Jun 17, 2016 9:13 pm

Hi all,

I noticed a lump of rubber sticking out on the front offside tyre today and on closer inspection discovered that the tyre is starting to shred, at first I thought I may have driven over something but then checked the near side to discover that is starting to do the same in a couple of places.

Checked the over van when my colleague arrived on site to discover his is starting to also do the same, they are both 13 months old FWD 350 155PS L3 H2 Models mine with just under 8K on the clock his has just over 8K on the clock.

Is anybody else experiencing this or just us,Is it a fault with the design on the van or poor quality tires, but they are the factory fitted Goodyear boots so I would like to think not.

We never had this issue with the MK7's that we had.

I've had a few issues with various sizes of Goodyear tyres failing prematurely, and even sent a couple back with a warranty complaint, which they refused to honour

Guess which brand I now refuse to buy :P
1994 Mk4 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (R.I.P.)
1997 Mk5 SWB 115 Minibus 70ps Di (Gone, but not forgotten!)
2004 Mk6 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.0 TDDi - Vantunered (Also gone)
2008 Mk7 SWB T280 Medium Roof 85PS 2.2 TDCi - Also Vantunered

My new transit 550 miles on the clock 275 of them was delivery miles
Front 2 tyres destroyed O/s tyre tread off another 4 " in diameter
N/s wall broke
Cost me £280 to replace them contacted vanarama nothing to do with them
After spending £22,000 on a van you would have thought they would have paid for them as some goodwill
But. O they said nothing to do with them not even the 270 miles delivery
The tyres were hankook replaced with the same
The tyre fitter says I would have an extremely hard job proving the tyres were faulty
Conned by the big boys
