Radio back light dims down and turns off!

I've just bought a 2016 mk8 transit. L3 H3. The problem I'm having with it is that the radio backlight (for the buttons not the screen) dims down and turns off while driving at night! The only way I can get them back on is to turn my lights off and on again! I can't see any dim settings in the menu or in the handbook! My sliding door is out of alignment aswell so I'm not having the deadly new van experience I thought I'd be having! Anyone experience this problem with the radio? I hope I posted this correctly I've never used a forum before! Thanks in advance!

On my 66 plate Mk8 there is an Instrument Lighting Dimmer (2 buttons – up and down). It’s located just to the right of the main lighting switch.
On my van the Dimmer controls not only the main instrument display but also the radio backlighting.
Yours may have been set to fully dim?
