Depending on country and spec, maybe (and that you use it ofc).
There are two types.
Block heater and diesel/aux heater.
In my country the custom and mk7 comes/came with a diesel heater as standard.
Don't think you can buy a block heater from ford as an option.

Yes, nearly every diesel have them but that doesn't change the knocking on cold.
A diesel have a high compression and heats up the air until it detonates with the fuel.
A cold engine, that will say when the block/cylinder walls are cold knocking occur.
