Clutch Issue 2015 MK8 44000
Postby stusledge » Wed Feb 15, 2017 2:33 pm

Hi Guys, Just had a MK8 Transit 350 with 44000 miles break down, Pulled up at a set of lights, took it out of gear, lights changed & it wouldn't engage any gears, No change in the feel of the clutch, Still pressure, No noise or knock or slipping???
Gears freely engage when motor off so its not the gearbox.
Called the Ford Assist & they said its a slave cylinder which I found strange as there is still clutch pressure, they have run it to a local dealer who before they have even touched it claim its the clutch which I find even more strange at 44000 miles & had no prior warning signs.
The dealer has said clutches are not under warranty even if it goes at 5000 & they are quoting £1000 - £1500 before they've even taken it apart.
NEED ADVICE PLEASE??!

How does the dealer know why the clutch failed without taking the box out. Perhaps the box tried to select two gears at once (was common on the 5 spd) & caused the centre plate to "explode"

I've just had similar problems with my 64reg 350 which has covered 70ish000 and yes it cost me around 1500! Very annoying!
