Head lights especaily low beam

Postby makenmend » Mon May 01, 2017 9:51 pm

Newbie here, have had my 2015 Transit T350 XLT LWB 3.7 Ltr V6 since last June, Converted to camper over the past few months, done some 10k trouble free miles from East to West and North to south in the USA. We have only had the Transit here since late 2014, so not the wealth of knowledge you guys have. My question is are there better headlights particularly low beams available for this model, I think that would be the MK 8 ??

Think you better post some pictures mate as we don't have any 3.7 ltr mother fookers in this neck of the woods and include pics of in the engine bay

andz327, the engines available in the US are not the same as the UK. 3 choices only 3.2 diesel, 3.5 twin turbo and 3.7 NA.
I believe most every think is the same except we don't get the dual passenger seat option. Not much to show in engine bay (all plastic these days) but here you go.

nedforceone, the 3.5 is petrol, very popular with the power and torque being better than the diesel, but not good MPG if you use that power. On a run from Texas to California with the 3.7 I averaged very close to 20 MPG that's US gallons not imperial, for a camper that's considered pretty good.

That not bad mpg (when I can work out the difference between us and imperial gallon) my bmw only does about 20-25 mpg (24-29 us gal) and that's a 1.6

I wonder if the 3.2 diesel is the same 5pot 200ps we have over here. N

20 us gallon is 16 uk gallon? But how much is fuel per litre over there I bet its not £1.15 :(

the probable reason you get the smaller engines is fuel cost / mpg
5 US gallons=4.16 IMP gallons. today my local Wal Mart is $ 2.04 a gallon, they don't do liter's here. So 20 gals =$40.80 which is 31.50 pounds.
Also diesels are not as readily available here and diesel fuel is more expensive than petrol $2.50 per gallon.

Petrol engines are more fuel efficient now comparable to diesels, so it's difficult to justify the extra cost of a diesel here ( twice the cost )

All my folks live in England ( midlands ) so I visit quite often ( there this time last year for a month ) covered 3.000+ miles so familiar with your systems.
If anyone is really interested in engine specs, I can look the up and post here.

Thanks for the links on lighting, I hope as the market here grows, more after market kit will become available, in converting my wagon finding such things as combined hob/sink non existent, but shipping from the UK prohibitive.
Funny my BIL in UK just sent me a link that got me here https://www.carid.com/2017-ford-transit ... ght-bulbs/ going to research these.

Almost fell off my chair when i saw US gas prices!

Crazy that diesel costs more as its produced rasier than petrol isnt it in the cracking plant??

We all got told buy diesels theyre better for environment, cheaper fuel and fewer parts...
Then government hiked up costs of tax and fuel when they realised we were using vegetable oil. Even cooking oil costs as much as diesel now!!
