whats out there /where to look for ...

Postby motovanner » Tue Jun 20, 2017 1:18 pm

got some £££ saved up and looking for a newer van ( got a mk7 at mo runs sweet but wanting something more refined, quieter and more economical ).

i dont know the mk8 range and looking for some help here.

i saw a L2h1 and that size of mk8 would fit the bill. i do want ac, cruise and heated screen.

i dont want the most basic engine power spec either ( my mk7 is 115 van-tunered and is nippy if needed to be haha ).

iv a budget of £10k cash and willing to spend £6k on finance ( got 24 months int free on my card ).

so what can i reasonably hope to buy for max budget of £16k for a mk8 with above spec?

or should i just stick with my mk7 another 2 years and look at saving till i got £20k for a decent van - dunno what to do, mk7 is running good so am not depserate for a new van but would like one!

Keep mk7, less complicated, more reliable, mk8 not much more refined than mk7, keep your cash, just keep the chassis side of the mk7 clean to keep rust at bay.

I could be wrong, but when I was looking at new vans, a year or so back, it was much harder to find a specced up Mk8, whereas a lot of Customs had toys and A/C. That being the case, most of what you'll find pre-owned now, will be the basic van :(

I got the impression that there were no Limiteds in Mk8, you had to spec up a Trend to get what you want :? :(

That right. Air con was optional extra. Got talked out of not having it. Big mistake as with all that glass it gets bloody hot!

I too am looking for a l4 jumbo trend , not really fussed about air con, cant believe how hard it is to find a good mk8 l4 trend that isn't a bag of spanners , got stung with the one I had 2 weeks ago but got my money back and am looking again

Yeah air-con is worth having. Gladd I specced it. Don't expect better fuel economy from a Mk8 though :-(

hi ,ive only really looked at main dealers or big dealerships but for the money I am paying some are just crap , I went to see one that wouldn't start ,I saw one at ford in Basingstoke that looked a decent van on the advert but when they sent me some good pictures it had a deep dent in rear quarter panel and lots of scratches which they said were nothing ,well at £16000+ vat they are something , as my post on here with the nightmare I brought from days of Swansea I just don't know where to start with that piece of crap , I have finally found one at furrows ford in shrewsbury , I am seeing it and test driving it tomorrow , I have paid a deposit to secure it , it is a l4 trend in magnectic grey on a 16 plate , it £17000 +vat , all I can say is it better be immaculate or im going to lose the plot and twat someone lol, steer clear of days of Swansea they have 3 l4 trends and 1 was the one I sent back, I had a quick look at big van world in crickade and they have 2 l4 trends but one of them has some various shades of silver on its panels which is also the state of van I looked at 3 years ago when I was after a mk7 jumbo trend
