Postby motovanner » Tue Jun 20, 2017 1:28 pm

do the mk8 vans use the same engines as the late mk7 s did?

what engines and power outputs are available on the mk8 from year 2014 onwards for fwd versions?

many thanks for any help.

Something like that :o

The new 2.0l engine is a brand new euro 6 engine developed in Dagenham. It's code name was Panther. It is not a PSA engine.
In the new tranny it has 3 maps with 105, 130 and 170 bhp - identical components in all 3

I have the strongest 2.2L variant (no adblue), and it's struggling to keep up with even smaller hills if I have ~1.2T loaded on it. It's only an LWB variant too, not a Jumbo. Don't get me wrong, if you don't put too much load on it, it flies. Then again, the MK7 with the better engines also flew.
So I wonder what the 2.0L engine is capable. Looked at reviews, they all cry about that the new one has zero amount of power. So yeah, do research and test drive one before purchase.

PS.: I don't even understand. Mercedes has V6. Renault has 2.3L. Hyundai has 2.4L. Why the HELL is Ford using such wimpy weak engines? It's mind boggling. Ford has the looks, the comfort, the ergonomics, the tech. And then they ruin it all with the engine. There is some serious shakeup needed in the leadership department at Ford.

The 2.0l euro 6 is 100% identicle in every model. As is the 2.2 engine in the euro 5 models. it's a just different map.
I think the 2.0 euro engine is pretty good (130bhp in a motorhome) and pulls well enough for what I want to do.
yep, 3.5 tons with the aerodynamics of a barn door, it struggles up long hills.
Ford claim to use the same eco-boost technology as their small capacity petrol engines in this diesel engine.
There are some 'teething problems' - oil change intervals and problem injectors in the early engines.
Remaps are starting to appear, Martyn at Pendle Performance has remapped the Ford euro 6 to a little over 200 bhp and 400 nm of torque.
The new PSA euro 6 van engine is also 2.0l and boasts similar bhp outputs to the Ford Panther engine and also uses adblue technology.
Fiat use a double exhaust recirculation (EGR) system rather than an adblue solution.
It's all driven by EU regulations, let's see how they all fare in the long term.

Given a choice, I would prefer to cruise around in a lazy 3 litre diesel and hardly ever have to change out of top gear.
I would also prefer no cat, no EGR and definitely no DPF, it's not going to happen though in a modern van though.

That's impressive if they all use the same turbo. Usually a turbo that can do 170ps on small engine has some trade off in throttle response and lag, then the lower power engine gets a smaller and quicker spooling unit. Do the new fancy turbos do all of this without even going to a twin-turbo arrangement?

Would there be any way to get the U.S. spec eco boost engine in a new transit?

They really seem to motor!

1.0l fiesta 120ps

I don't like the idea of that much power at the piston, reeks of overheating pistons to me.
Although I'm sure the engine makes know what they're doing :-)

I really want a 3.5 ecoboost.

Do you think Ford would do it as a special order?
