UPDATE

Still no engine been at dealer for 7 weeks now.

What is the point of warranty if they can not or will not give decent service?

It stories like this makes me reliase thank god we don't run fords anymore . They don't have the aftersales like Mercedes do, if they improved that massively then it would be different t.

Surely they should give you a replacement van to use as yours is still under warranty?? If you had to rent one you'd be in the ££ thousands by now.

I went to a Diesel Specialist with my MK7 when it had engine problems.
He showed me new Renault, Peugeot, Mercedes and really almost every brand engines. His workshop was full of them, and they were mostly "new" models.

Some had even fewer miles than yours had and they were popped.
I asked him: "What brand should I buy? What van?"
He told me: "A new one. They are all garbage quality engine wise, so just get one, use it, and once the warranty runs out, sell it and buy a new one. If you don't do this, you will spend the new car's price on repairs anyway. But this way you will be driving/using a new model at least."

He is a wise man, been in the engine/diesel industry for 30+ something years.
Almost everyone in the country brings the diesel engines to him to get them fixed.

Bottom line: I am disappointed, but I also kinda expected this.
Get the one that suits your need, the one that you can afford and prepare to sell it off.
If you cannot afford a new one every now and then, get an old Transporter, or an MK6 or something that you can fix up and use for decades with occasional fixes. There is this team I work with, they bought old Vito vans, old Transporters and they just run and run and run. I run my business alone so I had no time to dive into the used market and spend weeks finding a suitable vehicle.

@Taylorstransit: If you check forums, online posts and reviews, all DPF fitted Mercedes models are basically crippled to hell and back. They all break very frequently and cost a fortune to get them fixed. Mercedes offers "packages" indeed, but they don't cover labor and "moving parts", so no matter what you do, you end up paying double for a van. I mean there is the base price that's already the double of any other van on the market. Then you pay again to keep it running and get it fixed. If someone could get a V6 Merc on the market, and absolutely needs that amount of power (people transport), AND has enough money, I say go for it. But otherwise, look elsewhere. Anything but a Merc, really.

I'd be looking to reject the vehicle with immediate effect due to the engine going pop and waiting over 7 weeks to repair.
Take this up with the finance company and dealership.

Sorry to hear your tale of woe buddy. :(

It's bad enough not having the van, but you've got a pair of toss jockey's with sprinters rubbin ya nose in it.
No Squire, not just any van....it has to be a Mk7 (VM.1) :D
