How do I remove steering column cover?

Postby Flashback33 » Sun Sep 10, 2017 6:54 pm

In the process of fitting a 'Kill Switch' to the ignition.
Actually I'm fitting a relay, but I need to gain access to the ignition switch wiring.
I've removed the two self-tappers from the lower steering column cover, but the cover won't budge!

Can any one help?
Please!

I'd like to do the same, but probably won't attempt it until I know the method. I have been told you can try this method.

'There is a 7.5 amp fuse that runs starter and all ignition lights run 2 wires from it to a switch and your ignition is dead'

It is just the two self tappers, and then the lower is held to the upper by integral clips at the sides. Once you've removed the tw screws, just gently ease the clips apart, perhaps carefully using a flat head to prise between if needed. It will come eventually.

Or possibly put a kill switch in the bottom clutch pedal switch wiring.

That's a good idea - I might do that myself. That seems less risky than messing about the ignition barrel wiring.

Hi when you get it done let us know what wire you put the switch in and when you have it started and use the switch does it stop the anti stall from working I’d like it able to turn it off when reversing in tight places cheers Sam ,
