Mk8 locking mechanism

Postby leetrx » Sat Sep 16, 2017 9:20 am

Hello,

I woke up this morning to my lock like this.

Someone has been routing through my van. My question is, when I use the key in the door when I have locked it on the fob I can't open the van so does this mean I left the van unlocked which is how they got in?

Thanks

Ppl put a grip on the barrel and yank it round which bends the door and it unlocks the door also, looks like that is what has happened here, the fact that the barrel is probably tight and rotated is why the key isn't fully working, you need to remove the barrel and repair the door then fit the barrel back in correctly.

I believe Ford have made a modified lock now that can't be grabbed, there is also a replicated lock available by hykee, search rep lock, the mk2 lock you need as it has a tapered bezel which can't be grabbed, the earlier 1 doesn't (who spent money on that? Suckers! :-) no idea if a free washer/bezel is offered?)

The above is open for corrections tho. :-)
