Keep Radio on with engine off for longer

How can I keep the radio on for longer when the engine is not running as when I have lunch it's turns off about every 3 minutes and does my head in . Help please . Tried googling and manual but can't get sorted .

It's 66 mk8 transit .

When you switch it on, with the engine off, does it not say "1 Hour" on the display?

Not seen that . It comes on when I turn ignition on but only for a short time . Usually most vans give you 20 mins .

If you leave the key out of the ign and press the on off button what happens

If you turn on the ignition without starting the engine, the BCM will shut down the electrical circuits after about 2 minutes to protect the starter battery.
Try turning the radio on, as above, using the "power on" button on the radio. The display should show: '1 HOUR'.
If it still shuts down after a short time, I would say that your AUX battery is failing

I don't think so, you can turn it on for another hour (manually), but if you keep doing it, you'll risk flattening the battery
