Unable to disarm Alarm

Postby newgage » Sun Jan 28, 2018 7:17 pm

2016 Ford Transit
I set off the alarm somehow.
Tried to disable by hitting the unlock key on the fob . No luck.

Horn is going off like crazy. Then in a steady pattern then crazy again. Eventually it shut off after I closed the door. RED Led is blinking rapidly.

I tried what the manual said.
1. Use the key to open the drivers door.
2. Put the key in the ignition and turn on.

Alarm still goes off. I am able to start the engine. Not the best way to be a good neighbour on a Sunday Morning.

I would try a power down reset, that is, disconnect the battery for half an hour, reconnect and try again

Tried disconnecting the battery for 30 min.
The moment I reconnect the cable the horn/alarm starts blaring away.

Have you tried a spare key?

You can unplug the siren but it has battery backup so you'll need to muffle it somehow until it goes flat, the indicators etc still flash if the alarm is triggered so at least you can see if the fault is with the locking/bcm

I'm not sure if ids will pick up a dtc for the alarm system unless maybe it is a pats issue?

You may end up taking it to Ford but in the mean time a quick fix is to remove the 2 siren bolts and then remove it then unplug it and wrap it in a towel i guess.
