Security flaws

Postby Marky s » Mon Mar 26, 2018 9:09 pm

Anyone shed any light on this Rang local ford dealer today to ask about the problems with global unlock on the drivers door lock and was told it doesn’t effect all mk8 transits just the customs I believe this to be incorrect as mine unlocks all doors if turning the key twice anti clockwise

Yes you are correct and they are wrong. Double unlocking does unlock all doors.

There is a software available now to override this. Tell them to look into it.

On the subject of security, I'm currently in the process of getting a HyKee replock fitted to my driver's door, as I understand the Mk 8 is pretty easy to break into by gripping the lock with a wrench and twisting :-(

I’ve rang again today and they said the software is not available for my van yet they checked on etits so I’m getting it sorted with a new security barrel thou it still will unlock the back doors but hopefully put them off

So if the update stops the back doors from unlocking how do you open it if the remote stops working

Double press the unlock button on cab door,
Difference being, after update if you unlock door using key manually,(not with remote) or 'break in'
This function also does not work till a correctly coded (PATS) key has been used in ignition

The trouble is, the scum don't know if your van has had an update or not.

I've got the update, but have fitted a rep lock anyway to avoid the door lock getting knackered by someone with a pair of grips.

Also, once in, they can get to the OBD port to programme a new key. Not so many sophisticated tea leaves around, but it is possible.
Better safe than sorry.

Got replock on mine plus a disclock as a visual deterrent and hope it takes as long as the manufacturers clame I know it’s bad to lose a van and all your tools and loss of work but if you lose a self built camper you can’t just go out and replace it

Which replock did you get? Did you get the rotating bezel as well? Can you give me a link?

http://www.vanlocks.co.uk/choose-your-v ... 61?cPath=&

I bought mine from there last year comes with the bezel now, mine doesn't spin but is tapered every which way, took me longer than 15 mins to fit and if you have a battery drain issue like me disconnect the battery !

I would like to secure the side door from inside as i don't use it at all, has anybody got any a wizard way of doing that before i start bodging something together ?

^^^ Listing says it's for a Custom, not a mk8 Transit.

Will it fit a mk8?
