Mk8 headlight upgrade?

Postby siraff » Mon May 21, 2018 11:06 am

Any info on factory (or at least legal) upgrades for the headlights?
Ideally I would like hid's but I'm only willing to do them if they can have the self levelling and cleaning fitted.
The standard ones aren't candles in jam jars but they leave a lot to be desired on back roads at night.

I've got LED H7s, loads brighter than stock.
The cut off isn't too bad.

HIDs are a bit old school these days...

There's no stock HID headlight for a full fat Transit, only as an option for 2018 Custom.

Ahh right. So are led's legal or is it a bit grey? I like the idea but don't fancy vosa having a word.

I've had LED bulbs in my minibus for last few years, passes MOT no problems. I spend a lot of time on motorways at night and in Scotland, so I installed a LED light bar in the grille... best thing ever!

Yeah will do when I get a chance. Word of warning - DONT buy any of the LED light bars from eBay, I will try to find the company I got mine from.

I could be interested in a light bar aswell. Infact that would leave my normal lights alone so no issues for normal driving aswell.
I wonder if the fog lights could do more?

Here is the light bar - The brand name is Rigid. It fits absolutely perfect in the gap on the bumper. However I have noticed it lights up the tarmac in front of me bit too much, Ideally it needs to be higher to light up the distance etc.

https://www.rigidindustries.com/home

I also follow this company on facebook, they seem to have a good range of stuff. http://www.wildernesslighting.co.uk

If you buy cheap stuff off eBay... you will buy twice and brightness won't be as good.

You could always cut a lightbar shaped hole in the grille and have it there, I think that will be my next move whenever I get a chance.

MS-RT might sell their Guy Martin grille with the LED lights.
