New MK8 2.0TDCI corroded injectors WARNING

My '67 plate Transit with just 458 miles on the clock has just been fitted with four new fuel injectors. The originals were all corroded.

On speaking to the Service Manager, he implied that since the vehicle had been standing for a long period (this is a van conversion project) this could have caused the corrosion. He could'nt give me any guidence on how long you can leave the vehicle without running, but they we were contacting Ford for guidence, since they had another van in with the same problem.

Strangley no hint of any engine problems when the 'Service Required' flagged up on the dash, but now I've lost a little confidence in the vehicle's reliability. Is there a design flaw in this new 2.0TDCI engine?

If you look in the custom and camper sections their is a lot about this it seams that a lot of camper vans had this problem because of the time to build them and not getting engine upto temp and their been a bad batch of injectors that didn’t like not been up to temp work vans did not seem to get this problem as they got work hard from day one

Thanks for heads up. Certainly looks like I'm not alone on this one. I shall be contacting Ford Customer Service to see how they spin this.
