Stuck out of van...help needed

Postby Campervanmatt » Sun Feb 18, 2024 4:31 pm

Hi there,
I think that my auxiliary battery that powers the central locking is dead...the mechanical lock on the driver's door doesn't seem to work so I'm stuck out of the van.
Can get to engine and have found this thread

viewtopic.php?f=40&t=217142

About hot wiring from the jump start point to a fuse controlling the fan and therefore powering the aux battery.

Can anyone tell me what fuse this is on a mk8? See schematic below...

Or any other ideas how to get the central locking working?
Cheers

Looking at the diagram I have for our van F33 is not used.

Attached schematic of Aux baterry and main battery connections which suggest that the aux is in parallel with the main when relay is switched to both. Otherwise the relay is switched such that it disconnects the aux battery from charging circuit So it seems that you should still have pweron the central locking unless both batteries have failed?

Does your handbook not have a list of fuses and relays?

I don't remember seeing anyone post up a fuse box diagram for a Mk8, but they're probably different for the Euro 5 and Euro 6 :)

They're only connected whilst the ignition is switched on, but will disconnect if the engine isn't started within a short time.

Here are details for the fuse boxes https://www.autogenius.info/ford-transi ... x-diagram/
but whether the hot wiring the fan method works with a mk8 or not I don't know, you'll have to let us know if you have success.

Thanks everyone.
Managed to break into the van in the end...tried the hot wire to the cooling fan fuse terminal but it didn't make any difference.
I think both batteries were gone But managed to jump start and seems ok now.
Will remember to give it a run out every so often in future.
Cheers
