Mk8 2.2 intermittent cutting out

I've got a mk8 2.2 fwd that is suffering from intermittent cutting out for a fraction of a second as you accelerate from 1600rpm. It can also happen on steady throttle.
Some journeys it's fine other journeys its like riding a kangaroo. Most notable is slowing down approaching a roundabout in 2nd then accelerating as turning.
It's had a new fuel filter, scv with no change. There's no codes. A month previous to the fault it had a new hella brand egr.
Any ideas what it could be?
