has keys.... damage to rear which I can't see in photos... somebody left it running... guy (or girl... wouldn't want to suggest all van thieves are men!) jumped in, reversed into the car parked behind it and away it went...

Auch. That's what happened to my sister in law's car. Never leave your keys in the car!

Maybe a better thread title would have been 'advert'.
That's a lot of money when there is no guarantee it will even start or drive or is roadworthy. I thought auction houses normally gave a 24 hour warranty?

A colleague of mine visiting last week from the States said they were frequent targets for theft over there as they are desirable, not sure if we were taking about the same van as I've not heard problems in the UK.

I thought The custom was supposed to be good for " anti theft" and a lot of magazines were saying it was nigh on impossible without a key. Then Mike wrote;

So I decided to google stealing a custom. I couldn't believe how easy it was to obtain a key and the videos on youtube. If I keep this Van I think I'll be investing in some mechanical deadlocks

I had a look and the only websites that say stealing one is easy are those selling extra security measures, other websites still say most thefts are with stolen keys, keys left in car or the whole van towed away.
