Stronger tailgate gas struts

Postby botacco » Sun Feb 26, 2017 4:38 pm

I need stronger gas struts for my tourneo custom.

With the bike rack the tailgate fells down and struts do not resist to the weight.

I need to add also two bikes on the bike rack?

Any recommendation on what gas struts i can use?

Dunno but I have them as I got mine upgraded when they fitted the bike rack. Ask on the well house terrier thread.

Could you upload a picture of the brand and model of the new one?
And idea about cost?

I can only find the same as the original.

How can I find the stronger one to hold the weight of the tailgate + bike rack and 2 bikes?

I was looking for struts to go in a toolcase a couple of weeks ago and came across the company, my Custom has barn doors so they are no use to me :D

Make sure you get the numbers of your strut and ask them to supply updated ones, don't just tell them your van, they don't know about that they just make them.

Arse and elbow when me and tango were dealing with them, and you pay for returns even if it was their mistake

I will do at the weekend, I won't see it in daylight before then. It was a £60ish upgrade.

The original are 870N the new one, No idea... I told them I need to hold 35kg in total considering 2 bikes and the rack. I have a thule rack (adapted from a touran) that should weight as the fiamma, for a fraction of the cost.

Let us know if they work with everything fitted. My van has the roof spoiler on the rear door, I'll have to remove that before fitting the rack or dremmel it while on the van.
