Shaking van

Postby Almog » Sun Feb 25, 2018 10:29 am

Sorry if there's already a post about this but I can't find anything like it.

Ford transit custom limited 2015 43k miles

In fourth gear going 50+ mph the van shakes violently back and forth. Continues to do this into 6th gear. Only shakes while accelerating. Had the wheel re aligned, so it's nothing to do with tracking.

Does anybody have any idea what it could be?
Would it still be under manufacturers warranty?

Thanks alot!

Does the clutch feel normal, does it shake or have vibration when you rev the engine, I was driving a transit years ago with a strange vibration, there was a big bang and half the pressure plate exited via the gearbox, now with dual mass flywheels there's some quite large chunks of metal rotating, clutch flywheel or driveshaft would be my guess if it's only on acceleration or load.

Clutch feels normal. Only shakes when going at speed. No vibration when revving.

Thanks

Driveshaft? Extra attention to inboard joints. Even if the driveshaft boots look good they could be worn internally.

At 50 or 60 mph when its shaking, knock it out of gear and let the engine go down to idle, if it still shakes its the running gear, wheels, discs, drive shafts etc, if it doesn't shake then it must be the transmission , clutch, gearbox or flywheel etc.
