Bonnet open & airbag warning light on

Postby Y14JMM » Mon Mar 19, 2018 12:07 pm

I got the bonnet lock replaced and a sensor thingie that was making the van go into limp mode every few miles, now bearing in mind that I am in France at present this wasn't easy, now when I collected the van the bonnet open warning came on, with my limited french i thought the mechanic told it would sort itself out after a while but now i also get the airbag warning light stay on after start up, I presume this because either were disconnected and the battery disconnected for a few days has caused this! Is there anyway of clearing these warning lights without taking the van back??
Cheers

The bonnet switch is a tiny micro switch right at the latch it I'd not held on by much and can come free if it has been hit, worth looking at it to see if you can fit it better. You'll see when you clock it :-)
I believe there's a front impact sensor also on the front panel, is it likely that they didn't plug them both in? It it work for a bit before the warning lamps coming on? If so then have you opened the bonnet a few times and then the warning or something else? I'm trying to see if they didn't fit it properly or if they did but wires have since got damaged or misalignment damage?
Permanent fault codes on the custom need clearing with ids.

I checked the micro switch and it looks ok, when you say there is an impact sensor on the front panel, do you mean the grill, how do i remove it to see if it's connected?
You say permanent fault codes need clearing with ids what is ids, this is driving me nuts i took the van back to ford dealer who fitted new bonnet lock but they say they can't find the fault!!
Any help would be great

Ids is fords diagnostic system.

It's been a while my memory is a little hazy but if you can't get at the sensor by getting down behind the bumper in situ then it'll be bumper off I would say :-(

It does all split in 3 but the clips will then be sloppy and they won't perfectly line up.

I would expect that ids will tell you that the sensor is damaged if you scan the rcm for faults so no need to remove the sensor for now.

Ok had a god look poke around and found a connector block unattached under the offside headlamp, connected it together and all is good, strange the diagnostics doesn't realise a break in the wirirng!! even if its a connector!!

Thanks loot for your input, i'm a happy bunny now.
