That's how my power inverter is setup.
Assuming you mean audio amplifier then you'd want a radio on feed or simpler an ignition live feed.
There are a few variations to the above, you can feed the cable in the side of the van fairly simple.

I'm not 100% sure about cab floor cable routing but if it is similar to the mk7 then it goes from drivers seat to bcm/glove box area via the floor.
