Have you been? What was the mpg and what tyre pressures did you run?

I'm going next week, it's the 3rd time in my DCiV, I run normal tyre pressures and last 2 trips I averaged about 34/35 mpg (from memory) that's running at the French motorway limits and with 6 people on board plus all holiday kit

Thanks. I'm going to do something similar this summer - so I'll see if I get the same.

Be prepared for around 25-28 mpg in the custom sport. Also you will need to change the front tyres every 8-9000 miles as well. Even if you take it easy, like i do

My sport was always better than that , new ones showing 40 plus on a run and 34-ish round town

2041 miles, average speed 49mph driven fully loaded (3 adults & 3 children + rear full of holiday gear) only averaged 32.2mpg: a bit low in my opinion as I recall it was better last year on same route and same load

Thats a decent return... maybe it was a tad hotter this year? Lots of things that could effect it really.

My first trip last week was 650 miles same load as you plus 6 bikes. It indicated 32.5 but was actually 29.5... I find the OBC to be 2 or 3 mpg "optimistic". I use the road trip app to do the calc at each fill up.. I was not sparing the horses though, the cruise was at 82 (ish) ;) most of they way..... don't trust the OBC though.

My MPG figures are calculated ones, the average speed is from the OBC, the OBC quoted MPG was not that much higher at 32.8 MPG

From what I've experienced the trip computer is very accurate, It depends on where you get fuel though the garage I use 80% of the time is far from flat which makes a big difference to how much fuel you can get in 82 ltrs with the LH front wheel at the highest point, down to 72 ltrs if its the lowest, based on nearly 60k and 3 years of running. I always run from full to empty refueling normally with less than 10miles left, 0 quite often and once 19miles after 0 literally missing for a mile before the garage 29/30mpg 95% of the time up and down hills fully loaded, Cornwall to Colchester last week 38mpg up 37mpg back, I'm sure 10% could be gained turning aircon off, driving at 60mph and minimising the load etc that would be very close to the advertised figers.
If you look on "fuely" there are quite a few vans showing what look like filling errors, ie 25mpg followed by 35mpg the next entry or vise versa when the overall average is 30mpg.

Just read through this whole thread and seing the other threads knocking about the custom is performing pretty poorly compared to mk6/7 vans.
My mk6 will do nearly 40 mpg on a run so what lies have ford been telling on fuel consumption with the custom?
Seems like all bullshit to me, either that or the fuel gauges and trip computers are dodgy

Yes it's always an interesting conversation mpg.... Mine has 6000 miles on the clock so it could rise, but it's always going to run loaded and I never drive to conserve fuel anyway. When at work I'd rather run with open windows than have the AC on but at 80 odd on a motorway with 6 up the AC is always on.... From all the reading on this van it's at 29 to 31 in the real world. (That's combined mileage, carrying weight as a van is designed to do). Time will tell I guess, but one thing is for sure, all manufacturers lie not just Ford.... Honest John real world mpg's is a decent source.

Interesting point about not getting all the fuel in moley. Too early for my limited brain to get my head around it though!
