Transit Custom Fuel Efficiency?

Postby flanserve » Thu Mar 21, 2013 9:00 pm

Do any of you new Custom owners have any real world figures on fuel usage?
If you could post approx MPG and type of use (Motorway/City) and load on board it would be quite useful. I'm looking at ordering one in the next week or so and would like all the info possible before I take the plunge
Thanks!! :D

Hi, mine is a SWB 125ps Trend and is averaging 37mpg when calculated between fill ups. 90% of that is steady motorway at 71mph with Eco on, cruise control on and is mostly empty. This is with 4k miles on - hope this helps!

Ask the guys who have the euro5 mk7s, it's the same engine (but not me as I'm getting around 32 in mixed driving).

Don't know about the ratios though.

First time posting in the custom forum coming from the mk7 forum.

If i'm honest seeing these mpg numbers i'm not that happy with the weight of the custom compared to the mk7 115ps euro 4 16 seater minibus we own. On a normal day in stop and go urban driving it gets 26-30mpg. So for me that the custom gets 37-40mpg isn't that great. I would have at best expected them to do 42-45mpg.
I hope that as miles get higher people start to see better mpg.

MK7 Euro5 140ps mpg is bloody shocking tbh, 30.7mpg compared with 34mpg on the previous MK7 Euro4.

I found my euro 5 to be a bit pants on the sportvan , the euro 4 was better all round . I have found my 155 swb custom to be fine but boot it and it drinks it but they all do

I've just had a 270 swb 125 trend on Demo and to be fair it only had 800miles on it but, in a 130 mile weekend of motorway at 71mph, A roads at 55-60 and back roads at 40 ish I only got 32mpg, my 59plate swb 140 Ltd averages for that type of running usually around 35mpg and on a run over the A66 and down the A1 at 60 & 70 it'll average just over 40mpg. Not sure if it was because it was so new??
ALso noticed how much more instant the power was on mine when I got back into it, would like to try the 155 as thats what I'm edging towards.

I have a demo 100ps on loan while I wait for my Sport to be delivered in September and so far it seems to be getting about 5mpg less than my 140ps Mk7 :(
