That's a bit of a myth until we see evidence I think, might be here but I've not seen anything and we've had ppl asking for photos or part numbers etc.

Any help appreciated as my local dealer was very vague..

I’m booked in to get it done......no issues at all , body shop sent photos to ford and they’ve agreed to pay. I’m quite surprised to be honest.

Mine is a 64 plate, bought new, so it’s 3.5 yrs old, it’s booked in for inspection at Fords body shop on Tuesday, Evans Halshaw, but bought it from Bristol St Motors, they don’t have a body shop, I went into my supplying dealer, as when I bought it I asked about warranty and the deal I got was 5 years warranty, 4 years servicing 4 years breakdown cover.
Last night I was searching Ford about warranty and I could find nothing at all about 5 year warranty, so I went back in today and asked what warranty I have, she said 3, when I questioned it about the 5 year, she looked again and confirmed yes 5 years.

That is good news, went looking at the new style Custom, I can’t see any difference to the straps or main pillar.
How long will it be off the road

Shorter straps were fitted from 2015 iirc.

I checked with parts dept last week (whilst getting my power steering pipe  )

my 2014 has same straps as a new unregistered model (I used its vin # on forecourt)

so i'm non the wiser....unless same part# is used?

OK, just to get some clarity on this!

I've just purchased two door check straps, the part numbers run from 2012 to 2016.

Comparing my old straps 2014 model there is quite a difference notably:

Strap material is thicker

Strap length is shorter

Resulting door opening was reduced by 3.5 inches, 90mm for our Euro friends :D

Cost for a pair about £13.50.......no brainer really

I shall post a dedicated thread showing door dimentions so old or new opening can be checked against...

Ok, had the door thing happen to me a couple of weeks ago, not due to 80 mph winds....if anything it was just a breeze.
Door now drops and just rubs edge of wing when opening, and makes a horrible clatter when closing.
Mate in coachworks says hinges are knackered all though they don't look twisted or bent.....got a pair of hinges and new check strap from dealer today....£30 the lot, guy in parts dept says they've reduced the price on them, probably due to demand but I couldn't say otherwise.

The new hinges are industrious looking compared to old ones, solid and heavy....check strap is thicker and maybe a bit shorter.
Took some pics in case anyone wanted a look.....

Same thing happened to the front door of my TCustom, wind caught it maybe half way open and I couldn’t close
close it properly after that. Panel Beater tried his best. I can close it now but often lock won’t engage.

Called Ford and wrote to them as well, short answer, “we can’t help you”
I read earlier that changing the hinge does the trick? Is this so.

Hope to hear from anyone soon

Not sure why we need more than one thread on this, but

Hi guys, I've had this happen to my 2015, which is obviously out of warranty. Has anyone had luck getting ford to sort out of warranty? How did you go about it? I'm also second owner, if that makes a difference. I think they should sort, it's a design fault that would be recalled if they thought it would be cheaper for them.
