Shorter aerial fitted

Postby Tran59 » Tue Aug 26, 2014 9:33 am

My stock roof aerial kept on clanging against various height-restriction barriers, so I swapped it for a stubby rubber one about half the height.

Having had bad experiences in the past with cheapo aerials bought on eBay which turned out to be just a piece of plastic with no metal inside at all, I borrowed the stubby from my VW Up. It fitted perfectly and reception was identical to the Ford 'whip', so I bought another from my VW dealer (£20).

No more clanging :)

Sorry for the crappy photo. It was taken through a window with my iPhone on full 'zoom', as it was chucking it down outside.

Stubby aerials available online are pretty hit and miss. The VW Up one is expensive, but very good quality - feels nice and rubbery/bendy.

We don't have DAB in France, so I can't be sure, but I don't see why not.

You're sure that was an aerial you had in your hand........

Hi,
Does anyone know a VW part number for this stubby aerial? and what vehicles it has been used on?
Many thanks, James.

Can't remember the part n°, but just ask for one that fits the VW Up or latest Polo, they're all the same.

Hi,
Can I just check if yours has DAB TallPaul? Curious to see if it will make a difference.

Cheers.
James.
