Really ?? The "upper " 100mph limiter ?? I remove it without IDS & without touching the BCM!

No secret , it's in the main engine controls flash memory that's all :) the PCM.

Obviously one has to inform the insurance company that you've done this, but is this detectable by either Ford (warranty claims) or the insurance company in case of an accident?

 - They have used info I posted on this forum & my pics

From my original post here  viewtopic.php?f=54&t=143555&hilit#p1201465

IDS V86 will NOT remove speed limiters from Transit Custom it won't connect to PCM :!: Later software version is required.

The original poster wanted the 100mph limiter removed from a Transit Custom

The facebook link you posted describes a method for removing the lower limiters on Transit Connects

This lower limiter of 56/62/70 mph is handled differently by the vehicles Ecu's from the upper 100mph limiter & the 100mph can't currently be removed by an IDS tool be it genuine or clone , using the method described.

The only current method to remove a 100mph limiter on a Transit Custom is to open the Ecu & connect a boot flash tool like CMDflash to its PCB's Can-Bus , connecting also boot & test points via 1k ohm resistors, then after reading the Tricore processors boot password , read the correct IROM - You are then in possession of the program that runs the engine & this alone contains the upper 100mph limiter value & switching.

Bump!

Is it still so freaking hard to remove the limiter?

My "loan" van is pulling way better then my old 140 mk7.5 and it reaches the limiter both on fifth and sixth gear withour any problem what so ever.

I want to go faster

Just an idea....has anyone removed the speed signal, some bikes had limiters fitted that could be defeated by removing the speed signal or emulating a lower one. It could be as simple as cutting the right wire.....a bit like bomb disposal!!!!!

Your best bet for power upgrades is to badger gary from apt to get a proper tuning kit developed on his rolling road and his sport used as a guinea pig.
But I guess it's just if demand is there or not.

If enough people pm him then he might give it a go.
And figures would be provable on his rolling road.

Wonder if I can get ALS mapped in on a motec

It's probably taken off the ABS sensors so not such a good idea.
