The same mystery as why the connect get sync2/sync3, adjustable seat warmer, ACC, automatic before the custom etc.

Maybe because they are car derived and custom are for us van drivers, well hard folk  if i want too warn my seat I'll set fire to it mwahaha

Maybe not :-(

Although are the connect more compatible with focus/Mondeo than the custom?

It will say that, in any event never drive anything other than a suitable relay from any circuit.

I found info stating that the power fold mirrors keep hot for a short time after the key is removed, 8)

Right here's what I've learnt.

But needs confirmation.

Folding mirrors stay live but not permanently except with key on, so if you want to have power windows that stay on after ignition off (albeit from between 5 and 30 mins at a total guess until i find out) then all you need to do is bridge the 2 relevant relays at the low voltage side, shouldn't cause any harm as it is no load (except relay solenoid) you can use a comparator relay or something similar if you don't trust me, this will use a pulse rather than load to switch the relay.

To get folding mirrors you need to bridge these 2 wires (ground i think but needs confirming).

(Snatched from the web)

Image

It's off a mk3 Mondeo with folding mirrors and I'm assuming that the switch wiring is the same but i need to confirm by doing a continuity test with my multimeter.

On my custom diagram i have permanently hot and also accessory delay relay but i can't find any info on it but i think it means a delayed power down :? If so it sounds like what we need for windows.

You can also buy a hella timer relay 4 pin but they aren't cheap  .

Back to mirrors, so to bridge the 2 pins we can take a double lock signal from the driver door lock which we link to a relay either live low or negative low, load side just goes to the mirror switch to link those 2 pins, so when double locking the van it'll tell the mirrors to fold, will have to rig up something similar to the unlock door to also actuate the relay but have to be careful not to have any conflicting connections for lock/unlock.

Simples

There may be an easier solution than above but until someone let's us in on it this is all i got :?
Also need to see if the mirrors stay dread when you remote unlock the van if so it means for now they will need to beer manually unfolded after you get in and insert the key, there are plenty of solutions to overcome this but for now I'll leave that.
If allcock was here we'd be up and running by now with a series of ropes and pulleys :P
Anyway I'll have a look when i can :-)

Use lock signal to fold and unlock signal to unfold, rather than double lock

I want double lock for fold Ake so if I'm in and out of shops etc i have the choice to single lock and not lock the mirrors but it won't matter because, and i hope the same as mk7 i should have a double lock wire or single lock wire to choose from :-)

Also, power fold is 1 press down folds, next press down unfolds and so on so unless i have lockout circuit it means each press of the button will operate the folding and it can get out of sync although not a problem just press the button again

Also if they get operated too many times they lockout like the starter motor

would the mirrors only need a pulse to initiate the close / open signal? A constant feed might cause a problem ??

Yes a pulse, the same pulse from the locking actuator is fine. :-)

You have to look it on the bright side.

On the euro6 you can fold the mirrors at any speed for that extra slipness and acceleration 8)

Shamazooooo well ..do you know.. I wen to Morrison's last week to get a meat and potato pie
As I was alighting from the van I noticed a little arrow thing on the mirror control
Pulled it and,the bloody mirrors folded in pulled it again and they went out :P
In,out ,in,out ,in,out ,in,out :P
Would be good if they did it by themselves my finger was sore for days after all that
Bit of string from the switch to the door handle would work but may look a bit sh*t
Folding on locking is no good as mine is set to lock when you start driving
That's not deadlock is it ?
Don't think so allcock
Well that might just work then?

So the deadlock wire and the mirror wire ?
Bit of an optocoupler in between? Then booooooom doors lock mirrors fall off can't get back into the van cut hole in roof
Probb best wait till loots done his

Have you fixed it yet loot ?

3. Whiz whiz when moving off hard (scares pedestrians).
4. Squeak squeak from the belt.
5. Unsightly passenger wing and door.
6. Sport kit/paint.
7. Dog cage and second row seats.
8. Interior.
9. Underneath/weather seal n body waxing.
10. 240v camping setup in the back and drawers etc.
