The split charge always charges the main battery first and moves on to the second battery and I've found before in winter electric heaters and lights mean there is a net loss sometimes and I'd like to charge up the second battery at home. This may be what prevents my heated screen from coming on sometimes.
I could only get to the negative terminal under the seat so I've connected the charger to the jump start point under the bonnet and it seems to be working. I don't know however if it's only charging one battery or how to check the voltage in either battery independently.

Jump start point charges start battery only.

Mine had the twin battery's because of the power inverter option but it only works with engine on so why does it need the other one?

Hmmm, the batteries are covered with a large plastic molding so how do I charge the second battery?
I guess I'll have to remove more bits under the seat tomorrow and fit some extra leads.

Probably the inverter load is more than the alternator can cope with so it needs the feed from the battery at the same time.

Ake, what sort of prices are we talking about? I was quoted £90 when I was enquiring about getting it factory fitted.

I'd also love to know the correct answer (to adding a charger to a dual battery Custom) as I'd like to incorporate a multi-stage charger in the power tool rig I have in the back so when the van in being used as a mains powered "command post" for an extended period on-site I can be sure that the batteries are kept charged...

A question :
I will have the dual battery system on mine, seen that i will have start/Stop and the 220power inverter.
But seen that i will use also as Van for Holidays i will need (as on my VW) the solar panel.
I will connect it diretly to second battery or i must need some extra Tricks?

Which models come with dual batteries and if they are single how much does that lot cost? I've got an unused new 110 in the garage that I could use....

I'm buying a new Custom Limited 130 tomorrow (last of the old shape)
I've rebuilt a Defender, several motorcycles and quite a bit to both a Mk6 & 7 Transit. Now bought a new Custom and just doing a few small bits to it.
