Oil pump problems

Postby Bloofishscuba » Fri Apr 10, 2015 6:10 pm

I'm supposed to be taking delivery of my new transit next week. Happened to mention this to my local mechanic today and he was telling me about huge problems with oil pump pressure not delivering enough oil to the engine, and subsequently a load of knackered transits up and down the country with engine problems as a result. Apparently Ford won't do a recall due to cost issues etc. Has anyone suffered this problem or heard anything about it?

It could be due to the long service intervals I had my oil changed and filter after first year and 13000 miles
The first year is most important as the engine is running in it could be ok to go longer after that

There is a global recall on all euro5 2.2 Transits for oil pump replacements, so your mechanic is talking shite.

Huh...

Just got my Transit Custom 310L 155PS. According ETIS its made on end of February 2015. Googled over that there is problems with 2,2 L Euro 5 engines manufactured between 2011 - 2012 december. So hope that I am out of problems.
Anyway, good van to drive, lot of power. Right now fuel consumption is 10 l/ 100 km, but it is on first tank... so I am not worried yet. :D

I had my 2013 transit custom dciv eat it's oil pump 2 weeks ago. Also had a friend with 2013 Ranger do the same last year. In both cases Ford have accepted responsibility and they are replacing the engine, they didn't even question it, just took the head off, couple of photos and accepted it as their problem. I have since found out there is a big commercial dealer nearby doing 8 a week on a bad week.
My problem is getting a courtesy vehicle. Ford have said yes but trying to get any further is proving impossible. My local main dealer only services my van, I got it off a seperate leasing company so I can't rant and rave at the dealer, but I would love to get to speak to someone from Ford to get my point over, they have said I can have a courtesy vehicle but at this rate my van will be fixed first.
I love my van, but next year when its time for a replacement I will seriously look at the other marquees out there. When my mates Ranger was in they only lent him a vehicle for 2 days, the other 24 days he had to sort himself. Take note Ford this is sh*t customer service.
