tourneo custom self build camper

Postby Camper steve » Sun Oct 11, 2015 8:29 pm

Hi all

i am converting a tourneo custom minibus 8 seater into a day van and could do with some help,
does anyone know if the rear 12v cigarette socket is able to stay on after the ignition is switched off without rewiring it completely from the battery.

the setup i have made gives me a kitchen with sink with running cold water, a single burner hob, a cool box fridge and a flushing electric buddy seat loo.
haven't figured out how to get a double bed in yet other than a blow up bed, if anyone has any ideas i would be grateful. i still have 5 of the original seats fitted.
all the extras clip in so i can put it back to a 8 seater in 10 mins and fit this all back in 10 mins. i like the flexability of having anything from a 2 seater flat bed to a 8 seater or a camper without much effort.

i have reworked a t5 curtain for the barn door window and the wife made the others.

i have more pictures if anyone is interested.

Will be keeping my eye on this thread. I have the DCIV model and looking at using it for sleeping in. Just bought custom minibus seats (which no one will fit for me lol) as the original seats are fixed and won't fold, ive slept in it once with my wee one on a memory foam mattress in the rear but a total pain in the butt going in and out rear doors hence the new seats purchase. Looking online you could make up a wooden frame that could be removed when not in use. Saw a conversion on eBay a wee while back that also looked like the bed sat on the folded seats. Could that be an option?
Don't follow me, I'm crazy........ and lost!!!

I looked at putting a bed on the backs of the folded seats but the board in the seat back doesn't seem strong enough.
I am using an american oversize single inflatable bed (a posh one, not a lilo :-) ) which states its a single but is a meter wide (can snugly fit 2) and once inflated a foot off the floor. I run with 5 seats, 2 middle and single rear, so when camping I unclip the rear single and refit kn middle row, then roll the middle row fully forward, this leaves a floor space of 2 by 1 meter for the blow up bed, which self inflates off the rear cigarette lighter type socket.

To be honest if I was installing my own rear seats I would look at a rock and roll type as you can buy these as kits and they come crash test certified so ok for your mot and can slide out into a bed. I didn't do this on mine as I needed to be able to convert back to a 8 seater when I want as I assist with scouting events from time to time, (my eldest son is a scout leader). My kitchen etc clips in place and I can lift it out and refit the original seats in 10 mins, or vice versa.

Hi
I'm on the same way.
I built folding full width bed which while driving is stored in the boot.
But this way works without middle seat row just with the rear bench . To install the bed rear bench backrest has to be fold down.
I'll look for the pics to illustrate above
