Interior lights won't turn off!

Postby Milhouse1 » Mon Mar 21, 2016 4:56 pm

Hi
I've got a 64 plate transit custom and yesterday all of a sudden the rear cargo bay lights wouldn't turn off when I locked the van. The cab interior light turns off, but having check all doors are closed properly etc, the rear lights stayed on for a good 1/2hr before eventually turning off. They also stay on when driving! I have previously upgraded them to LED's so they are bright in the back (bulkhead removed and rear seats fitted) and I just can't work out why they won't turn off.
Any ideas gratefully received!

Did the problem coincide with the bulb change?

It's still under warranty, so take it to dealers

Is one of the overhead interior light switches in "on" position?

I mean the interior light behind the overhead storage. The switch in the middle is probably flipped in the wrong position. Mine is always situated in the middle position.

Hi
Ive double checked the light position and this isn't in the 'on' position. It has been running fine with the new lights in, but is now intermittent - coming on whilst driving, and sometimes working normally. I am tending towards it being a fault with the lighting somehow, so will need to focus on that I think.
Cheers for the input!

Or some of the switches could have bad connection. But probably is faulty switch.

What I don't understand is which switch it could be? As lights were direct replacement for what was previously fitted (and wired in to turn on/of with doors/ central locking) and no specific switches.

Just been reading this as we needed a mod to get the lights off when we are sitting in the van at night to stop the bugs coming in!
Just removed the plug-coupler in the back of the sliding door push-pin spring switch. After 30 seconds it dropped out! Perfect quick mod!

Anyone know if it is possible to do similar for the back door light switch on a DCIV?
There's no obvious light switch, could be inside the door catch
