I've had a quote of around £300 just for the kit not including the battery instead of the normal £60-£70. please can someone who knows what they're doing verify this. Thanks

Think out your box dude

Remove starter battery.
Put leisure batt there instead.
Connect leisure batt.

Disconnect starter lead from leisure battery.

Fit starter batt somewhere.
Connect it to earth and starter lead.

Fit a second, thicker cable from alternator to leisure batt.

Connect leisure batt to storage batt via a relay / diode.

Your storage batt will fill to nearly 100% on a run.
You'll never flatten your starter batt as it only runs the starter.

As bullet proof as your going to get without spending oodles.

This still won't charge the battery above 80% unless you can get the regenerative charging working for a few hundred miles.....£150 solar panel or the 12v to 12v charger like the Sterling one is the only 100% solution.

I did read about an Aussie who has used a cheap inverter connected to a battery charger to overcome the smart charging, which is what the Sterling charger does essentially.
