Heated Seat

Postby ustwo1966 » Thu Oct 06, 2016 11:56 am

a quick question i have a problem with my heated seat, its very intermittent, basically it does its own thing when turned on sometimes it will work for about 30 sec then turn off
other times it wont work at all. how is the temperature controlled is there a built in thermostat in the seat all the loom etc seems ok

I thought it was just a heater element and just stays at maximum temp the whole time you've got it on?

Mine gets hot in about 4-5 mins then stays there till you turn it off.

Mine comes on for a while then shuts down for a while before coming back on. I'm told this is how the Ford ones work, would prefer it just to stay on to be honest.

Mine too. It's a bit weird on the couple of mornings I have used them.

The heated seats in my Mondeo didn't do this but they was variable temperature, so it must be a Transit thing rather than a Ford thing.

It comes on... gets up to temp.... turns off.... turns on again.... up to temp.... then off again.

I thinks its thermostatically controlled.

My last sport had seats that had a mind of their own , on ,off then red hot and even came on when not switched on !
The ones in the new van don't seem very hot in comparison but I'll reserve judgement until we get a frosty morning

The element self regulates, hence it feels like it's switching off and on. Not sure why they don't fit the variable one that the Connect has.

Does it regulate the temp level or just on and off ?
