Transit custom 15 plate "service engine now" warning light

Postby Elltell85 » Thu Jan 05, 2017 7:34 pm

Hi all.. Over the past week my transit has an information light apear saying service engine now... then it goes into limp mode.
It has had a service at 27000 and it has now done 28000.
I've tried the ignition-brake-acelerater senario but to no avail.
When I turn the engine off then on again it dissappears but comes back after a short drive.
Has anybody had the same problem?

I have had it happen many times on my 2013 van.

Turns out to be a faulty temp sensor in the intercooler.

Easy to fit. Simply crawl under the front bumper and it's right there with a T30 bolt.

I just buy them and fit them myself and the fault clears! lol I even have stock in my van with the correct alley torx to do the job 'on the fly'.

I go through about one a year.

Hi there, I am having exactly the same problem with this service message and putting my vehicle into limp mode. Switch it off and on again and it clears. I have ordered the part as kindly stated above, but can I please have some guidance as to where this part is located. Many thanks Jules

Easier to just lay under the front of the van. It will be on the drivers side rear face of the intercooler. Not hard to miss.

Hi there, do you clear the code afterwards or does it clear automatically?

Hi all, i have a similar issue but then the after the 'Service Engine Now' notification comes up my van dies and womt restart had AA out told me to get new fuel filter and forced regen which i did next day then ran fine for two weeks and has now died on me again i feel like the fact it wont even give me limp mode suggests that its not a sensor, what could be the problem i wonder

Hope its not too expensive, only had the van 6 months everything else is great on it
Cheers

Think you may need to get it looked at by the dealership. If it cleared for a while after a regen, it could well be DPF and need cleaning/replacing due to soot build up. Unless you have the ability to read how much has accumulated inside the DPF then it'll tell you for sure.
