So if the Hykee was designed to prevent key cloning why don't they make a replacement bonnet lock, or do they ?

Was it designed to prevent key cloning? I thought it was to provide a better door lock?

There are practically unpickable locks but they are probably not really made for cars/vans.

Fool proof way to stop the van being driven away is to make a physical switch that is well hidden away and it breaks a circuit that is needed to run the engine, has to be 1 that can't be bypassed or bump started.
You can make a remote switch and have a fob but that is no good if you are in car parks etc where they may scan for frequencies.

As for bending doors n sh*t, don't park in vulnerable places, make sure they are well lit and have cctv and watching signs for thieves.

Fitting a replock and things only serves to slow then down.

If you feel that the bonnet lock is vulnerable then consider fitting an old cable type to unlock it, but irrespectively they can still pick the ignition key in under a minute once they have access

So as said, allow them in and allow them to turn the ignition key only to find a dead starter, they'll grab your change and mcd's 1 free coffee card and fook off i think. :-)

No there's skeleton keys available for a few pounds that can pick transit/custom/mk8 door in seconds. The hykee is a replicated locking barrel that supposedly makes it harder to pick them.

As the specs changed between euro5 and euro6 my new van was not fitted with any alarm from the factory (it was standard in limited trim on the euro5 but not on the euro6).

The dealer fitted a defa alarm at ford's costs.
Anyone got the same?

At defa's website it seems highly configurable from a laptop but I need to find the ecu on the van first.
