I've done the first oil and filter change myself and could it just be a case of fill the sump with new oil until it comes up to the lower end of the original dipstick.
Seems like a load of bollocks if it's got to go to a stealer for the job. Can the replacement be bought from Ford instead?

Is that not your warranty gone?

How will they find out if I don't tell them? I used the Castrol oil and genuine Ford filter. Would they refuse to sell me an upgrade dipstick on the grounds that they can only be fitted by them? I'll phone them and find out if no-one on this forum knows.

Why would they not sell you a dipstick? Although i don't kniw why you wouldn't have had it all done by the dealer?

£11-odd from my local Ford dealer. Be with me on Monday. Fook booking it in and waiting a week like it is with my local dealer.
So maybe one day I have to have my van looked at under warranty and the off chance they notice an upgraded dipstick which they didn't fit, what will they say or do? I really can't see Ford finding out that I've changed the oil and filter myself. Like i'm really going to admit it. They already sold me a genuine oil filter.

The dealer wouldn't care if you did it yourself. Doing your scheduled services yourself may cause problems with Ford themselves in the future. The bulletin also states a PCM update is required mind.

What's a PCM? Trying the search function throws up a multitude of posts.

OK, thanks for the info. If and when my van starts acting up i'll take it in. Pity there isn't software that allows you to access the ECU/PCM/other whatever like I can on my bike. Triumph Tiger 800xc btw.

What's the deal?
Are you sitting at home for one week and wait until it's your time or what?

 No. I've got other bikes and cars that I can use while waiting, it's just that the Ford dealer local to me (literally 1 mile away) always seem to be fully booked up. Monkeys they are though.

Gents
Custom Euro 6 170ps 66 plate.
Vans now asking for its second oil service. 1st at 4000miles now again at 8000miles.
Ford paid for the first oil change (plus software update) under warranty. Dealer is saying I have to pay for the second oil change. Did anyone get the second oil change under warranty?

No idea but this is ridiculous

I do mine at 5k every year but it's my choice, these are supposed to be 30k intervals aren't they?.

Has anyone found if changing the oil and filter only, does it get rid of the message (without touching the software)?

Bloody Ford.

All this waste oil is destroying the environment :?

Its just about to have the second oil change, dipstick change (oil capacity increase) and software update.
Not sure Loot if changing the oil is enough to put out the message.
I'm thinking of taking an oil sample myself and getting it checked for fuel content. Guess this is the contaminant?
Ford must be a bit nervous of damage because both times they have said the oil needs changing.

Not necessarily to be honest. At the moment all we have to go off is a bulletin saying should this situation arise, change the oil and filter. And if required change the dipstick and carry out a PCM update.

My Euro 5 had diesel in the engine oil, the level would go up and down depending on use, there was a few threads about 2/3 years ago. You can buy a simple paper test sheet from Opie Oils for about £5 it's TUV approved but really just a bit of blotting paper. I had the oil pump mod and a new sump fitted at 30K and since then no problems now done 75K miles, I am convinced the diesel vapour in the breather system was affecting the DPF and engine idle control because the hesitation and excessive regeneration all stopped at that point.
