Any thoughts on the PCM update? Do you think it will tackle this issue?

My Euro 5 had diesel in the engine oil, the level would go up and down depending on use, there was a few threads about 2/3 years ago. You can buy a simple paper test sheet from Opie Oils for about £5 it's TUV approved but really just a bit of blotting paper. I had the oil pump mod and a new sump fitted at 30K and since then no problems now done 75K miles, I am convinced the diesel vapour in the breather system was affecting the DPF and engine idle control because the hesitation and excessive regeneration all stopped at that point.

Could you tell us what year your Euro5 is/was and what you mean whith: " the hesitation", please? I am not pleased whith the number off regenerations thet occur either!

It's a September 2013 125ps, I'm 99% sure high oil level was causing the excesive regeneration, it was doing it every 50 to 150 miles. I checked the oil level in the same spot on the drive after being left overnight, it was serviced at 28k miles and filled up to the max level, on the drive with it slightly nose up the level was just over max, the level rose up and up with constant regens over about 1500 miles so I sucked out about 3/4 lt. The regeneration slowed and the oil level started to fall slightly I assume the diesel was evaporating out of the oil. The hesitation was like a cough pulling away and at low throttle say in traffic it would rev then cut. The oil pump and sump was changed at about 30k miles, I made sure the oil level was never above 3/4 full, I put 2T oil in the diesel for a while, regens are now once or twice in 500miles.

If you search "snake oil" or "high oil level" you will find more info...I can't seem to post a link.

I think that this thread originated with the newer euro 6 engine in mind, it will get confusing if both types of engine get mixed together, 2.2 euro 6 and 2.0 euro 6 are different engines completely.

Not sure which Transit it is exactly, but so far returned under warranty for oil changes at about 1500 and 3000 miles, vehicle just coming up for 5000 miles oil change warning again. It's a sole wheelchair accessible vehicle.... I don't have time for this grrrr

Hi guys, first post on this forum and this topic is how I found you lot!

I've had my 2016 66plate Transit Custom Sport 2.0 170ps euro 6 for a year now and it's only covered 8.5k

My journeys are to-around-home from London, stop start and short, get to hit motorways on rare occasions!

I had an oil & filter change at 3k as the light came on. Then took it back as light came on again 1k later, this was just a reset this time. It's been on ever since 5k now and p*^*#s me off every time I hear those 3 beeps!

I'll be contacting the dealer tomorrow. Anyone able to give me a heads up as to what to expect them to say (I imagine there will be a bit of bs they will fob me off with)

Thanks in advance guys

Hi

I have a Custom Sport 2.0 170 euro 6

What to expect when contacting Ford? I have already had a filter and oil change at 3k but the light came back on at 5 and was reset. It's now back on since 7...

I had my first oil change at ~9 000 km, again at 20 000 km and now again at 40 000 km.

A PCM update came this week (in Sweden) which says that it will solve the oil problem and the reversing camera. Can't say anything about the oil problem now but the camera works fine.
The dipstick needs to be done as well.

Transit Custom Euro 6. Had first oil change message at 4000 miles. Had oil change, new dip stick and software upgrade at dealers, maybe. Now at 8000 miles same message. Ford technical section say it is a software problem and dealer should fix. Asked what software problem was but they did not know and said "they don't tell us". Say that's some great technical section you've got there Ford. Back to dealer next week. Will see what happens. Will let you know.

I just got an oil change warning after 3k. is that right?

Had same warning at 4000 and 8000. Taken back to dealer twice for software upgrades, new dip stick(first visit) and two oil/filter changes. Both done under warranty with no charge for anything. Dealer says Ford insists on oil changes even though it's a software problem. I'm not going to grumble. Will wait until 12000 to see if problem solved.
