270 leafspring on 310?

Postby pitarda » Tue Feb 28, 2017 12:33 pm

Hi,

I know there are lots of (and I've read them all) topics covering lowering custom, but couldn't find anything about this option - don't know if it is possible at all.
So, I've got Tourneo Custom (310), 2016 model, and it is quite lifted at the back,... so I thought I could replace leaf spring with 270's,... would that help? Is it possible just to swap them?

Seriously? WTF is wrong with you? It's got those springs on for a reason and it's not cosmetic. If you want to lower it, get some properly rated springs with a different profile.

Would have thought it was possible, do they make a 270 Tourneo ?

I must admit, I do find it amazing that a lot of people just can not comprehend that a manufacturer spends many man hours and hundreds of thousands of pounds/dollers/euros etc, developing a vehicle that is safe, comfortable, easy to drive under all situations and loads within its capacity , is reliable , and durable, etc, then feel that lowering it will improve it.....

I am sure you will find it will still run the same hight empty but go lower with less weight in it . I fitted lower weight springs to my transporter Kombi as the t32 was very hard ride . I needed the t32 ( 3200 ) max load to get vat and tax back as it need to carry 1 ton in the back but this make a very hard ride .i now get a better ride but could not load it more than 3000 kg total.

For my opinion, lowered Transit/Tourneo looks way better than normal height.
I use mine as family first car and will never load it to max and I am also not trying to lower it belly bottom,...
There are only 310 Tourneo as far as I know. I can see (unloaded) SWB Transits (DCIVs) on the road, that are around 3 - 5 cm lower than my Tourneo, so my thought was that using leafsprings from 270 would make it a bit lower,...
Seems like I will just have to give it a try.

Transit Custom 270 van & DCIV GVW is 2740kg

I would advise against fitting 270 rear spring to a Custom Tourneo 310
Kerb weight (EXCLUDING driver).
L1 model is 2171kg,
L2 model is 2260kg

Do the math 8)

Fit 270 springs & sit 5 of me in the back (I weight 16st (107kg) ).
Rear end will sit so low, it will look ridiculously overloaded
