Shudder while accelerating uphil

Postby Alternative2 » Fri Mar 24, 2017 9:22 pm

Hiya guys I wonder if anyone has an idea on something I've got going on please.
OK it's 2014 tourneo custom lwb,
105k now so warranty is pointless (tried and failed with 2nd driveshaft that went)
1st dome 98k, 2nd went 103k had it replaced as was shaking under acceleration (sometimes) like under slight load going uphill etc, It shudder's to start with when I power down it in 2nd/3rd but stops when at higher revs, also in 6th it's not noticeable on motorway etc.
Can't feel it through steering wheel at all, it's the van itself that shakes.
Sorry for long winded but I'm confused by it myself.
Cheers everyone

Sounds like a fault with the clutch to me, do you get any noise or vibration from pushing the clutch pedal?

I agree with moley, sounds like the symptoms when my DMF failed on a Ford Galaxy.... the flywheel also takes the clutch with it when it starts to fail.

No noise or vibration while pressing clutch down at all, just this bloody vibration at a certain point in the revs and goes with more gas.
Really not liking the thought of new clutch and dmf :-(
I was hoping for something simple like engine or gearboc mount lol
Thanks for the input guys at least now I know what I'm dealing with.
On another note, anyone fancy doing a clutch and dmf??? Hahahah

1st replacement driveshaft lasted 5k
2nd one has done 2k and you're having similar problems.
Sounds like an incompetant mechanic.

Which still points to an incompetant mechanic.......

Sorry that's the way I wrote it (badly haha)
1st driveshaft was done by ford
Then the opposite side went and was replaced by my mechanic, I hoped the driveshaft was the cause of the shuddering but it's still there so clearly not that.
Both driveshafts are done and OK as far as I can tell. No clicking like there was.

I had a similar problem with mine. Although it didn't shudder like you described here, but I'm guessing that's only because they fixed it in time. But the similarity goes for the going uphill or coming from upshifting gears and accelerating from low rpm.
Mine had a bearing replaced in the gearbox and that solved the problem.

Thanks seamonkey will definitely get that investigated, when you changed the revs did the shudder ease off or stop? Mine I can almost control the shake by easing off the throttle or booting it past the shudder then it's fine (well when I'm flooring it but comes back of course)

Get a proper inspection of all the engine and gearbox mounts? Any mount bushes that are worn might let the drive shafts angle exceed there maximum?
What exactly fails on the driveshaft?

Hiya thanks for that will definitely get them all looked at on Monday, The 1st started clicking on lock so standard driveshaft fail with a split cv boot bit second was just a split cv boot and chucked all the grease out Also a shake under acceleration so assumption was driveshaft on opposite side to what was previously done, needless to say the shake still goes on with a new shaft... at least the cv boot isn't split though :-/

I spoke to ford about getting it diagnosed with them...
Is this right as it seemed a littlle excessive to me, they quoted at me "we will charge you for 1 hour labour at £100.20 and if we can't diagnose it withing the hour will call you and ask for another hour and so on"

I'm happy to pay for it to be diagnosed no problem at all but surely that's just writing a car dealership an open cheque isn't it???

Has it been remapped or a tuning box fitted? only reason I ask is because I had mine remapped and it was juddering around 2000rpm, more noticeable uphill and it was the torque limiter kicking in, took it back the next day and the mapper pulled the torque back slightly and now its perfect.

Why should have to pay because they haven't got a clue, there meant to be experts fu-king disgrace in my opinion !

Hiya not remapped, I was going to have it done when the warranty ran out but seems to be Constant issues since the 100k mark (convenient it all starts when the warranty runs out eh!)
