I totally agree, I'm an electrician/builder/decorator. I can't load unload every day I don't have the room in my flat for one or the time as per the last post. I have to carry a wide variety of tools to do my work.
It MUST be on the vehicle manufacturers to make their vans more secure, it would cost them peanuts compared to the profits they make on selling the vans.

Maybe, but until that happens it's up to us to keep our property safe, if losing your tools overnight is a 'deal breaker' then you have to remove them. No ifs, no buts, it's your livelihood at risk.

As we have seen time and time again, as soon as the vehicle manufacturers improve an aspect of security, the scum bags find a way to get round it.

It's not up to the vehicle manufacturer to safeguard your stuff, it's up to you!

You know what I think Mr BJT's cage is actually a good idea, if you have a lot of tools kept in your van then the inner cage will slow down or stop the thrieving robbing little b*stards getting them, imagine the scumbags face when they get the door open and see a jail inside. N

You're not wrong, if your livelihood is at stake, and you really can't unload your tools, or goods, then they need to be inside something similar to that cage, and also make the van un-driveable without the correct keys

I have an alarm system that fits in there too
Couple of years ago some gentleman with transits and caravans
Set up shop in the field round the corner
2 tripehounds in the back 1 in the front and the side and back doors open cages locked overnight
3rd night in 2am it went off "WOOOOOOOOOOOOF " right from the bottom of the chest , and the van bouncing about
Didn't see any f*** but it never went off again and they fooked off a few days after that
