I'll buy a mini safe or strong lockable metal box, drill a hole for the cables and protect them with a rubber grommet, then put the whole OBD port inside. There's space for it too.

Is that moved just a bit? Or completely repositioned?

According to my neighbour who disturbed them, they stole 2 low-loaders from watford and targeted several vans in the area. They got 5 vans last night from on or around our road. Apparently Police found a list of number plates, and mine was on the list. Reprogramming keys through the OBD port. Mine is euro6 so has the flat key (now upgraded to a Hykee), so perhaps this is the only reason I still have a van.

So I'm seriously asking about relocating my OBD port elsewhere. Like an entirely different area of the van. Like in the back behind my deadlocks and bulkhead.... cables can be extended right? But these are data cables ....

Andy.

Hi Andy... it just unclips by squeezing the tabs left and right of the port.... Then follow the cable back and unclip it as you go. You then have the port and a fair length of cable in hand... you can reposition it as you choose. Mine is hidden way up behind he head unit... I can just reach it but it will take a good while to reposition. No way will a thief find it.

Thanks. I asked the garage about this, and the specialist said the euro5 have a lot more cable, so Unclipping the cable as you suggest is feasible and common. The euro6 has far less cable, so it has to stay within 15 inches of its original location. Apparently. Is yours a Euro6?

I have a Hykee replacement lock barrel. But as I didn't want to move OBD socket I use a Pedal box because you cannot start engine without depressing clutch. Only hope to slow them up, or encourage them to try somewhere else.

Andy.

Just re-position it far enough away from its normal location to cause confusion to a thief, they'll find it hard to locate in the dark, and hopefully move on from your van.
Mine was saved by the Hykee a couple of months back, I have them on CCTV 8) :P

If there using low loaders then they obviously want it and can push the van down the road to the awaiting vehicle, try and block the van in with other cars or buy a wheel clamp. N

I could tell you where it is and you still couldn't get to it in under 20 minutes.

If they can't steal it using their usual M.O then they'll move on. Its not "gone in 60 seconds" here... they aren't professionals!! They are scum bag low life who have very little intelligence to diversify from the norm.

Well done for the clever comment though.
