Service and 1st MOT - Where?

Postby thedugmaster » Mon Apr 10, 2017 2:40 pm

My bus is due for it's first MOT and a service in June but I'm not sure where to take it (am based in south west Birmingham, near Bromsgrove).

The nearest Ford dealer is Bristol Street but I wasn't that impressed with them when I got them to code my towbar (I had to show the technician what to do!).

Anyone got any advice or recommendations where to go :?:

It doesn't have to be Ford, I always used to use Independents back in the day. I'm more interested in them doing a good job for a reasonable price (intend to keep it for a long time so not too bothered about a Ford FSH).

Thanks

I don't know if affects you, but my garage told me that when I bring it in for first year check, then again for the first actual service I would get additional coverage on the free breakdown cover.

Well they would extend it anyway.

Advice I got was to go to trusted independent a few months before the actual date just in case there was anything not obvious to you that would be picked up.

This would give you a bit of time to sort it under warranty.

I had mine serviced and MOTed at the Transit centre a month early, I got the extended breakdown cover and the best bit they replaced the rear corroded ford badge only took two years to get it done

3 year 100k on UK vans, imports are less, 60k and 2 years, I think has been mentioned. I've run out of LSD to translate the last bit.
