New custom owner - couple of questions

Postby dunc_sx » Sat Apr 29, 2017 4:50 pm

Hi,

I'm a new owner of a 2014 H1L2 290 125 custom panel van and I've got a few questions, apologies if they are basic it's my first ever van!

1) Tow bar, how do I know if it's tow bar enabled or not, I was speaking to a witter dealer and they say this makes a big difference to cost?

2) My spare wheel is in the back and I found this underneath, I was wanting to return it to be stored underneath (see attachment)

Thanks in advance,

Dunc.

I wouldn't return the wheel to underneath. Mine was nicked recently from underneath. It's very easy apparently. Leave it lashed to the side walls inside with roof rack straps.

And get a hykee lock asap if there isn't one. Woeful security from Ford makes these easier to steal than my toddler's ice cream.

Bloody sportvan, wouldn't catch me with 1

Would a sport 18 inch alloy physically fit on the spare carrier?

If you put a spare wheel there make sure it is just legal for road use to get you home, i doubt they'll pinch it then.

You can understand them stealing a brand new spare wheel/tyre.

Depends on where you live.

Within the UK = bad idea.

In Sweden this isn't a problem I know of.
Mainly because transits are less popular here.
The police is non existing and crimes are shooting in the sky so it's not because of that

I resent that i drove 5 solid hours today

I want to say where i live is safe as houses, but that might curse me and my van gets stolen and I'd look like a fool so i won't :?

If it's got a factory tow bar, then it's towbar enabled
If it's not got a tow bar then it's not tow bar enabled
If it's got an after market tow bar it's unlikely it's towbar enabled

Thanks for the responses folks, it's never had a towbar so assuming I'll need the more expensive kit!

I assume Witter are the usual choice but open to any other alternatives.

Cheers,

Dunc.
